Mechanical Assembler

Summary:  The Mechanical Assembler operates light machinery and hand tools to manufacture and repair a variety of safety products.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize hand tools
  • Operate light machinery such as drill, saw, hydraulic iron worker
  • Prep Work for all units: pull cable, drum assembly, setting brakes, material winches, drill press and saw for tripods
  • Product inspection and boxing, inc. making labels and stickers on computer
  • Assemble a variety of safety products such as self-retracting lifelines, roof safety equipment, fall protection anchorage connectors, confined space entry systems, ladder systems and rescue systems.

  • Read orders and blueprints to determine hardware and tools to be used
  • Diagnosing items received for repair so that an estimate can be prepared for the Customer; repairing those items that the Customer wants repaired and destroying those items that the Customers decide to not repair.

  • Standing and walking throughout 8 hour shift, up to 3.5 hours at a time
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and moving materials
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Handle and Move Objects – use hand and arms to handle and move materials
  • Manual Dexterity – ability to quickly move hands, hands and arms, or two hands together to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects;
  • Rate Control – ability to time your movements or the movement of equipment in anticipation of changes in speed and/or direction of moving objects;
  • Finger Dexterity – ability to make precise, coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Control Machines and Processes – use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent education is required; Minimum of one year of  experience with industrial machines and tools, with understanding of basic equipment and tool safety.

Hours of Work:  Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
